Red collection
Tekla launches a new collection, comprising poplin sleepwear and percale bedding in a striking brick red hue. Available exclusively online at Farfetch and Tekla.
To celebrate, a re-enactment of Trisha Brown’s 1971 ‘Roof Piece’ – which served as inspiration for the collection – is reinterpreted in a special performance by model Lily McMenamy.
In Brown’s original performance, 15 dancers dressed in red were positioned on rooftops spanning several blocks in SoHo, New York City. Each dancer reinterpreted the dance in front of them in a game of telephone, without rehearsal. In the film of the event, the dancers appear like semaphores, receiving and transmitting messages to the next performer.
Now, this dance is performed once more in collaboration with the Trisha Brown Dance Company, (TBDC). Through a series of movements, McMenamy, dressed in Tekla sleepwear, transmits messages to the New York City skyline and beyond.
In addition to the collection, 25 limited sets, including sleepwear shirts embroidered with a commemorative message, speciality packaging and an archive print of the original 1971 performance, are available exclusively on Farfetch Beat.
